Bayelsa Tricycle Owners Association Joins Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme with MOU Signing

The leadership of the Tricycle Owners Association of Bayelsa State has been commended for their commitment to integrating members into the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme.

Prof. Onyaye Kunle-Olowu, Chairperson of the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme Board, expressed this commendation in her office during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme and the Tricycle Owners Association of Bayelsa State.

The agreement aims to integrate tricycle riders into the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme. She reminisced about BHIS staff visiting the Ekeki Motor Park a few years ago to educate motorists and tricycle riders about the benefits of enrolling in the scheme.

Emphasizing that the MoU signing is a dream come true, Prof. Onyaye urged state residents to fully utilize the scheme to avoid becoming victims of unforeseen health conditions. She stated, “With BHIS, you can access healthcare without selling any property for medical bills.”

The Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Zuoboemi Agadah, explained that the MoU authorizes the union’s executive to collect premiums from their members on behalf of BHIS and daily pay the same into BHIS’s designated account. He also noted that, as enrollees, they can register other family members and pay for their premiums.

Dr. Agadah highlighted some benefits of the scheme for enrollees, including access to affordable, effective, and efficient healthcare services.

During his speech, Comr. Ebikobowei Sani, Chairman of the Tricycle Association of Bayelsa State, thanked the management of BHIS for including tricycle riders and their families as residents eligible to benefit from the health insurance scheme. He pledged to collaborate with similar unions in the state to encourage them to register under the scheme.

The high point of the occasion was the signing of the MoU documents by both parties.
