The BHIS team, led by the Executive Secretary, visited the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, and was warmly received by the Registrar, Prof. Solomon Tamarabrakemi Ebohbrah.
They held a productive discussion on the importance of health insurance and the special needs of vulnerable students. The ES introduced the Vulnerable Persons Programme (VPP) as a solution for students facing financial hardship.
By 11:40 a.m., the team proceeded to the auditorium where students gathered, led by Mrs. Rosana Akatei and Comrade Happy W. Akunama. Dr. Dunu Benson, Dean of Student Affairs, addressed the students, followed by Dr. Tuebi, Mr. Alex, and Mr. Smart T. from BHIS who engaged the students with clarity and enthusiasm about the program.
Thanks to the sound system provided by BHIS Studio, the session was lively and interactive, ending with students excitedly opting into the scheme.
This is yet another bold step in our mission to bring Universal Health Coverage to every corner of Bayelsa — including our tertiary institutions.
