EYE CARE FOR ALL

Our eyes are essential to how we experience the world. Taking care of our eyes helps protect our vision, detect serious health conditions early, and improve overall quality of life.

WHY EYE CARE

Children’s Development

Good vision is critical for learning, reading, and social development. Undiagnosed issues can lead to poor academic performance.

Prevention of Vision Loss

Many eye diseases (like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, or macular degeneration) develop without symptoms—early detection is key.

Vision Health

80% of what we perceive comes through our eyes. Poor eye health can significantly affect daily functioning.

Productivity & Safety

In both work and daily life, clear vision improves concentration, reduces errors, and enhances safety (e.g., while driving).

Eye Strain from Digital Devices

With increased screen time, digital eye strain is more common. Regular care helps manage symptoms like dry eyes, headaches, or blurred vision.

Aging Population

As people age, eye issues become more prevalent. Proactive care helps maintain independence and quality of life.

OUR SERVICES

Primary Level Care

At this foundational care level, BHIS covers basic eye-related services, such as: Treatment for conjunctivitis Management of parasitic and allergic eye conditions Handling of minor injuries like eye contusions, abrasions, and removal of foreign bodies

Secondary Level Care

When specialized attention is needed, BHIS refers patients to secondary facilities offering: Refraction services Provision of low-cost prescription glasses (excluding contact lenses)

Tertiary Care

If a case cannot be managed at secondary level, enrollees are referred further—though BHIS generally excludes advanced ophthalmological surgeries and high-tech procedures. These are not covered under the scheme.
